Claparède is among the founders and an absolute protagonist, at the international level, of pedagogical activism which, although born in the early twentieth century, is still waiting to develop, within the now legitimized pedagogical science, the great laboratory of contemporary culture of education.
This volume collects the three important essays in which Claparède presents and clarifies his contribution to the new education movement, basing his reflection on the diversity of attitude, ability, and character of children, which the school must take into account by respecting, in their differences, the various rhythms of growth and learning, thus avoiding homogeneity and flattening. It will therefore be an experimental school that will verify in educational practice the compatibility of objectives with the reality of individual behaviors.
Rereading today Claparède's The Tailor-Made School offers us the opportunity to deal with a "contemporary classic of the history of pedagogy: a work that, a century later, appears worthy of being reread and discussed, legitimizing the sensation of a past that still significantly beats in the present" (see p.8).
