No to euthanasia, Yes to palliative care: a forceful statement; a manifesto that invites us to always stand by the most vulnerable, to ensure they do not lack any possible help. Because when it seems that there is nothing more to be done, that is when every man, every woman, feels called to get involved, with all they know and can do, with their competence and their capacity to love. Palliative care is the masterpiece of third millennium medicine, because it requires constant creativity, necessary to keep the relationship with those who suffer alive and to invent new solutions; to seek together new reasons to live, to not abandon the field of human fraternity, even when it seems harder than usual.
We need others. Our identity is constantly in dialogue with that of others. Euthanasia invents a right that does not exist, the right to choose the time and manner of one's own death, and instead denies that the right to live, the right of rights, also includes the duty to take care of our own life and that of others as the greatest possible good.
The book, with the testimony of many experts, speaks precisely about this; about how it is necessary to start again from Law 38/2010 on palliative care and how it is necessary to say a firm no to euthanasia in all
its forms.
