By reading the book you will find yourself reflecting on facts and research evi-
dence from different theories, from intuitions and knowledge that arise
from the mysterious and rebellious autistic world. It is daily life
in the family, the relationships between parents and children – in particular between siblings –
the space for observation and analysis that the author uses to
narrate the potential and complexity of the situations and atti-
tudes that the birth of a child and a sibling with a
neurological disorder generates. An event that involves the entire family unit
and requires creativity, commitment, to gather fears,
mobilize energies aimed at making sense of the emotional confusion
that this arouses.
The volume is enriched by a study, conducted by the author, aimed
at demonstrating the valuable emotional and cognitive support that comes from the
relationship of the family with associations, friends, services, research and therapy centers.
The author
LAURA SABINO, mother of 7 children, one of whom has autism, after graduating in Economics, decided to enroll at Roma Tre University, Department of Education Sciences, because she wants to know with which further tools of reflection and knowledge she can establish a meaningful relationship with her autistic son.
