"I read this book with great interest and deep involvement, and I share the authors' perspective, attentive to reading the complex reality of the school, to grasp its difficulties, problems, but also its great, fertile richness. Thinking about the school. The voices and affections of students, teachers, and parents. This is the title. Beautiful, it encapsulates all the philosophy that supports and gives meaning to the text: thinking about the school not as just any community, any 'company,' but as a place of life with voices and affections." (See Afterword by Professor Maria Sandias)

Description:
It is too easy to talk about school in a generic way, to stigmatize its shadowy areas, to express hasty judgments and to highlight only sensational events that make the news. It is as if the school can no longer be thought of outside the common rumor of social alarm. It is urgent to return to thinking of the school as a special place of education, relationships, care, and protection; a laboratory of learning, interpretation, collaboration, and help. It is urgent to return to thinking of the school without reductive shortcuts, without hiding doubts, anxieties, worries, but without devaluing the words of affection, esteem, and thanks that parents and students express. The research recounted in this text illuminates a rich, articulated, sometimes contradictory, jagged, dynamic reality: the complex reality of the school, a restless reality because it is full of questions that highlight a need for helping relationships expressed by students, parents, and teachers alike. In this complexity of questions, a significant answer is the construction of a counseling project, a space where everyone can express perplexities and uncertainties, where a climate of true supportive complicity can be created.
